Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the club are in talks with Schalke 04 attacking midfielder Leroy Sane but the move is stalling over the player's valuation.

"Sane is a player of Schalke. Of course we talk to him - Schalke knows we are interested, but at this moment we don't have many possibilities to get him," Guardiola told reporters.

"There is a difference between Manchester City and Schalke and it is quite big. I do not know what is going to happen but right now he is with Schalke," he said of the 20-year-old Sane, who was in the Germany squad at the Euro 2016.

Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel Winger has confirmed Sane has asked the club for a transfer.

Sane scored eight league goals and grabbed six assists for Schalke last season as the Bundesliga club finished fifth in the standings.

Remaining coy on the possibility of signing Paul Pogba, Jose Mourinho revealed that Manchester United have so far made 75 per cent of the transfers he requested, with just one more left to complete the lot.

The Special One is currently in Shanghai, where United are preparing to face Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup, a pre-season tournament featuring numerous big name teams.

"The club has done 75 per cent of the work with the three signings of [Eric] Bailly, [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan, and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, that I asked for when I arrived," he told the assembled press.

"We have until August 31 to cover the remaining 25 per cent."

French newspaper L'Equipe say that Juventus have reached an agreement with Man United for the sale of Pogba at around €120 million, which would make him the world's most expensive player, but Mourinho would not say if this was the case.

"I cannot confirm nor deny it as I don't think it's right to speak of players from other teams, Pogba is at Juventus, not Manchester United," noted the Red Devils' coach.

Man United will be without Ibrahimovic for the game against Dortmund on Friday, as Mourinho looks to rest the striker, who played for Sweden at Euro 2016.

Midfielder Mario Goetze has rejoined his boyhood club Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal from Bayern Munich, the Ruhr valley club said on their website (www.bvb.de) on Thursday.

Goetze, 24, won two Bundesliga titles with Dortmund before joining Bayern in 2013 but failed to nail down a starting place in three seasons under coach Pep Guardiola, who has since joined Premier League side Manchester City.

Having played at Real Madrid between 2006 and 2007, former Brazil fullback Cicinho has criticised the senior players at the club, claiming they manipulated the dressing room.

At the peak of the Galacticos era, elitism was seen as a real problem for Los Blancos, and in an interview with ESPN Brasil, Cicinho stoked the fire somewhat.

"Guti, (Ivan) Helguera, (Iker) Casillas, (Michel) Salgado and Raul were the kingpins," he said.

"They controlled the dressing room, the coach and the press.

"If Ronaldo had a bad game, the covers of the papers would say Raul was better."

Despite being frustrated, Cicinho admitted taking big measures to avoid some of his teammates, namely Salgado.

"When he came into the dressing room, he greeted everyone, but when it came to greeting me, I would tie my boots," he added.

As other clubs battle for Paul Pogba's signature, Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane remain happy with their squad, ruling out the possibility of signing the Juventus midfielder for purely sporting reasons.

Los Blancos initially showed an interest in Pogba and Real's director general Jose Angel Sanchez had several meetings with Mino Raiola, who represents the player, but the 23-year-old's displays at Euro 2016 had a few weeks ago buried any chances of him lining out in white next season.

Manchester United remain the front-runners for Pogba's signature as Sky Sports reported yesterday that they will submit an offer of around €104 million.

The French coach is not interested in upsetting the starting XI he currently has and the possibility of signing a Galactico reduces everyday because he feels as though he has a good squad with everything in place, everyone with a role and everyone understanding their role within the squad.

Raiola's relationship with Real Madrid has improved in recent months and the Italian has not closed the door on potential signings in the future with his selection of players wide and deep.

With several key players still resting from Euro 2016 and Copa America exploits, it is an interesting question to consider who would win in a Real Madrid-Barcelona derby match, if it were played now.

Zinedine Zidane would not be able to call upon Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Sergio Ramos whilst Luis Enrique is still missing Neymar, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid would have the edge in terms of experience with Marcelo and Casemiro in training whilst Barcelona have Luis Suarez and a variety of promising youngsters such as Sergio Roberto available to call upon.

With possible summer signings and departures on the agenda at Real Madrid's pre-season base in Montreal, club CEO Jose Angel Sanchez met up with Zinedine Zidane for a discussion.

Having spoken to Zidane and French coach David Bettoni for 20 minutes, key to the talk was finding room to accommodate any new signings, with last season's strugglers James Rodriguez and Isco, who act as competition in Gomes' attacking midfield position, already at the club.

With the likes of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos also possible selection options, added to Marcos Llorente and others from Castilla, Real may not be in such a hurry to complete any deals just yet.

Next up for the club are three friendlies in North America before returning to Europe for the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla and the start of the domestic season in August.
